Photography Competition
Update August, 2010
Aughrim Business Association would like to thank everyone who participated in the inaugural photography competition which has been running since last May. Entries for the competition closed at 5.00 p.m. on Friday, 13th August and the organising committee was thrilled not only by the quantity of entries received, but also the quality of the photographs entered. Two external judges, Mark Condren and Mike Brown came to Aughrim on Monday 16th August to judge the photographs. Mark who is the AIB Press Photographer of the Year 2009 and Mike, who is a renowned wildlife photographer, spent the day deliberating over their decision but finally made their selection of twelve images, to be included in the 2011 Calendar for Aughrim. Click here for a brief biography of each of the judges. Of these twelve images, one overall winner was selected, who will be presented with the cheque for 500 from the competitions sponsors Skoda and Aughrim Motors. The twelve finalists have now been notified. The identity of the overall winner and the winning image will be announced at a prizegiving ceremony and exhibition to be held on Sunday 26th September in Aughrim. The organising committee was so impressed by the standard of photographs entered in the competition that it has been decided to exhibit all entries in the competition. Details of the exhibition and prize giving ceremony will be notified closer to the date.
